February 21, 2024 —In an exciting development, The Kendal Corporation is pleased to announce the hiring of Doug Helman as the Kendal Transition Operations Specialist. Doug Helman is a seasoned professional with over thirty years of dedicated service in the senior living field.
Doug brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to this pivotal role. His thirty-year career includes a nineteen-year tenure as the Executive Director of Kendal at Granville (now Otterbein Granville), opening the community and earning him the distinction of being the community’s first and only Executive Director during that period. His previous roles across Ohio, North Carolina, and South Carolina have honed his operational support, project work, resident communications, and problem-solving skills.
As Doug Helman steps into his role, his first objective encompasses offering his expertise to ensure operational efficiency and support at Enso Village as the community moves from the construction phase to becoming a fully operational community. Enso Village is a collaborative effort between Kendal and the San Francisco Zen Center that first started welcoming new residents in November 2023. In the long term, he will be an integral part of the Kendal team, supporting new and existing Affiliates as the System innovates and grows.

I have admired the Enso Village initiative for many years, so I look forward to supporting this state-of-the-art community throughout its startup period.”

Doug holds his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from Bowling Green State University, majoring in Health Care Administration. He also holds a license as a nursing home administrator. As an active volunteer, Doug has contributed his expertise to numerous organizations, including the Granville Rotary, LeadingAge Ohio, and the Hospice of Central Ohio Board of Directors.
