Sharing Kendal at Home’s Stories

Kendal at Home recently tapped into the support of The Kendal Corporation and AKCG – Public Relations Counselors to boost two deserving stories within its service areas. First, they developed an informative piece on fall risk prevention that AKCG would share with an influential Cincinnati publication. Secondly, they spotlighted two incredible Kendal at Home members, Peggy and Rich Bowman, whose lifelong commitment to volunteerism landed them in the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame.

Kendal at Home Educates on Fall Prevention Awareness

Stephanie Tewes, a care coordinator with Kendal at Home and a Certified Fall Prevention Specialist, is leading a new fall prevention education initiative for members of Kendal at Home. The innovative Falls Flight Program is not an ordinary fall prevention initiative. It is a carefully crafted, multi-step approach that combines risk assessments, education, and exercise to steer the course toward a fall-free existence. In Stephanie’s words, “By addressing the root cause of falls and equipping members with the knowledge and tools needed, we’re not just preventing accidents, but cultivating a culture of safety.”

Armed with knowledge for Kendal at Home members, Stephanie was eager to share some of these tips with the public in Ohio – who can take advantage of fall prevention strategies and potentially Kendal at Home services. Stephanie and the Kendal at Home team partnered with Kendal and AKCG to develop a guest article for The Cincinnati Herald titled, “Prevent Falls and Stay Safe at Home: Expert Tips and Resources for Aging Adults in Ohio.”

In the article, Stephanie highlights resources for older adults in Ohio, including Kendal at Home. She also outlines specific steps each reader can take, such as incorporating balance exercises, adding accessible lighting, and using assistive devices. The article ran in both print and digital in the health section. The article was successfully cross-promoted on Kendal at Home and The Kendal Corporation’s social media channels, further amplifying its reach.

Kendal at Home Spotlights Peggy and Rich Bowman

When Kendal at Home heard Peggy and Rich Bowman were selected to be inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, Kendal at Home was so excited for them. They quickly looped in Jessica Buhler, Kendal’s Director of Communications & Public Relations, and AKCG to look for additional opportunities to highlight Peggy and Rich’s extensive volunteer history and community involvement.

The story was pitched to Dayton Daily News, resulting in an interview and feature in the paper’s lifestyle section in both print and digital publications. The story highlights Peggy and Rich’s careers with the U.S. Air Force, how they got involved with the fire auxiliary department in Beavercreek, Ohio, and their involvement with Kendal at Home. The story was also shared through Kendal at Home and Kendal’s social media channels.
