Megan Barbour promoted to Collington COO

Mitchellville, Maryland (Dec. 30, 2019) — CEO Ann E. Gillespie has announced the promotion of Megan Barbour to Chief Operating Officer of Collington, a Kendal-affiliated not-for-profit Life Plan retirement community in suburban Washington, D.C. Barbour has served as Administrator/Director of Operations at Collington since September 2018.

“This move means Megan will continue to lead our Health Services and Culinary teams, and now the Facilities team as well,” Gillespie said. “Megan brings extensive oversight experience of these departments in former positions, including community construction and renovations, environmental services, grounds and life safety. We’re excited to have the benefit of her expertise and leadership over our operations!”

Barbour came to Collington from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where she worked as the Executive Director for Redstone Highlands Presbyterian SeniorCare Greensburg campus. During her time at Redstone, Barbour participated in the LeadingAge PA Fellows in Leadership Program, was an active member of VOICE (formerly the PA Culture Change Coalition) and the HealthCare Council of Western Pennsylvania. Barbour is an Eden Alternative Mentor and presented at the 2014 seventh annual Eden Alternative International Conference in Nashville.

In addition, Barbour has served aging adults through her roles as Nursing Home Administrator for Quality Life Service’s Henry Clay Villa community, Human Resources Director for Quality Life Service’s Countryside Convalescent Home, and Human Resources Specialist for Presbyterian Senior Care at Oakmont. She also served as Human Resources Director and completed her Administrator-in-Training program at Woodlands Retirement Community in Huntington, West Virginia.

Barbour attended Marshall University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications with an emphasis in public relations, as well as a master’s degree in human resource management.
