Kendal Names Kurt Rahner IT Vice President

Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Aug. 21, 2018—Kendal has been promoted Kurt Rahner from Director to Vice President of Information Technology. Rahner succeeds Joe Savery, who retired June 29 after more than 41 years of service to the Kendal System.

“Kurt is fully immersed in the challenge, leading the effort to craft a vision and a plan for Kendal technology, focusing on innovation, reliability, connectivity and security,” said Amy Harrison, Kendal’s Chief Financial Officer.

Rahner now is leading several initiatives including:

  • Systemwide migration to Microsoft Office 365 and enhancements to end-user support.
  • Strengthening information security controls to improve threat logging and incident response data analysis.
  • Collaborating with MatrixCare to plan a move to the cloud-based version of the application.
  • Defining metrics needed to implement an IT dashboard.

“Kurt is a dedicated professional and a valuable partner,” Harrison said. “He is aware of the enormous technological potential of the Kendal System and is seeking to leverage our existing strengths, including the talent that lives at Kendal Affiliates, and build the capacity and bench strength to move us into our future.”

Following a lengthy and involved search process, Rahner joined Kendal in February 2015 in the newly created role of Associate Director for Information Technology. He came to Kendal with a wide range of experience, including security, network engineering and implementation, Unix systems administration and software engineering.

From 2005 to 2015, Rahner served as Senior Security Architect and more recently as Senior Systems Architect with Berkley Technology Services in Wilmington, Delaware. His responsibilities included monitoring and mitigating security risks, disaster recovery planning, automation of workflow processes, increasing operational efficiencies and reducing technology costs.

Rahner has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master’s degree in computer science from Villanova University. In 2011, he earned a master’s degree in business administration from Widener University.
