KCorp EngAging Community Initiative

The Kendal Corporation recognizes the importance of social responsibility, being a responsible member of the larger community, and making a difference in people’s lives beyond Kendal’s walls. The Kendal Corporation also recognizes the importance of providing a meaningful workplace through opportunities for employees to engage in something larger than oneself to have a positive impact in society.

The KCorp KendalCares Social Impact work group has discussed the relevant Kendal values, identified goals, and developed strategies by which we can put those values in to action and achieve those goals. We’ve also developed a points, incentives, and recognition program called Points and Perks to encourage and acknowledge community benefit activities (details below).

KCorp KendalCares Social Impact work group goals:
1) Build a culture of engagement and generosity in giving back to the greater community as a Kendal Corporate team
2) Support the #ENDALZ initiative and the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association
3) Inform the greater communities view and understanding of aging and aging services through educational, informational, and engAging experiences and collaborations
4) Demonstrate Values in Action: Sharing

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

– Winston Churchill

Values in Action: Sharing

The urge to reach out broadly and impact the quality of life for older people throughout our society is central to our continuing vitality. It rests on a charitable identity at the heart of our mission.

Foster a Culture of Generosity

Those involved in the beginning of Kendal set a tone of generosity – of spirit, time, talent, and resources.

  • Our vision of Kendal as a system characterized by unusual generosity is expressed in efforts to make a difference in people’s lives beyond the affiliates .
  • Staff members are encouraged to share their skills with local groups.

Responsibility in the Larger Community

Each Kendal affiliate must be a responsible member of the larger community.

  • We strive to be good neighbors… and build good relations within the local community .
  • Whenever possible, we share our resources, knowledge, and facilities with the larger community.

An Active Role in Aging Issues

A primary goal of The Kendal Corporation… is to take an active role in issues affecting the aging in our society.

  • We work to inform all older people and the wider society about the implications of the aging process.
  • We strive to create positive and realistic views of aging.
