December 13, 2021 —Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, Sept. 7, 2016—The Kendal Corporation has named Colleen Ryan Mallon its new Chief Marketing Officer. A leader in the field of aging services with headquarters in the southeastern Pennsylvania/metro Philadelphia area, Kendal is among the 10 largest not-for-profit senior living organizations in the U.S. Kendal provides programs, services and communities for older adults in eight states.
“I am excited to join an organization with such a rich history of serving older people that has remained at the forefront of the field of aging by focusing on individual well-being and outreach efforts,” Colleen said. “Kendal has wonderful stories to tell, and I am excited to have this opportunity.”
At Kendal, Colleen will lead the organization’s marketing and communications team and develop marketing, sales, communication and public relation programs and systems to support Kendal’s strategic direction and align each affiliate’s marketing and sales plan and activities with Kendal’s short- and long-term objectives. She also will promote and protect Kendal’s brand, oversee the planning, development and execution of national marketing, sales and advertising initiatives for the Kendal System as a whole and help affiliates conduct market research and develop sales strategies specific to their markets and specific needs.

Colleen joined Kendal after 13 years leading the marketing and sales operations, along with other evolutionary initiatives, at Goodwin House, a well-respected and successful not-for-profit organization that has grown to provide an array of services, communities and programs for older adults in northern Virginia.
Colleen joined Goodwin House in 2003 as Corporate Director of Marketing. Her primary responsibilities included meeting revenue projections for Goodwin House communities, as well as communications and public relations. Under her leadership, Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads successfully filled a 106-apartment new tower, as part of a $143 million expansion.
In 2013, Colleen became Vice President of Marketing and Mission Expansion for Goodwin House. In addition to her previous marketing duties, she assumed responsibility for seeking out and implementing new business and growth opportunities, including the launching of Virginia’s first life care at home program. She also served as project manager for the development of a new midrise, 80-bed skilled health care building in Alexandria, Virginia.
Along with marketing and sales, Colleen oversaw brand management and communications, including publications, website management, media relations and crisis communications. As a member of Goodwin House’s Executive Leadership Team, she also participated in decisions regarding financial management, strategic planning, operations and board, resident and external relations.
“Colleen’s expertise and experience might only be matched by her energy and enthusiasm for her work and the people with whom she does it,” said Sean M. Kelly, Kendal’s President and CEO. “We are so fortunate to have someone with Colleen’s breadth and depth join us at this exciting stage. Together, as a larger Kendal System, we will build on a foundation formed by Kendal’s values and acumen over 45 years, while also shaping a very dynamic future with the entire Kendal family.”
Colleen earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology/gerontology, with additional concentrations in women’s studies and biomedical ethics, from Trinity College in Washington, D.C. She also has done master’s level coursework in long-term care administration at the State University of New York in Utica and has been licensed as a nursing home administrator in Virginia since 1995.
Colleen succeeds Bill Silbert, who served Kendal 15 years as Director for Marketing and Communications before retiring in June.
