Kendal at Granville to offer a “Delay the Disease” program to residents and those in the surrounding community suffering from Parkinson’s disease

Kendal at Granville now offers a FREE group exercise class for People with Parkinson’s within our community and the greater community. Delay the Disease™ is an evidenced-based fitness program designed to empower those living with Parkinson’s disease by optimizing their physical function and helping to delay the progression of symptoms.

This life-changing fitness and mobility program is expressly designed for people with Parkinson’s disease or those with Parkinson’s characteristics. Led by a certified OhioHealth Delay the Disease instructor, the program improves the physical, mental, and emotional realities of PD patients. Developed by David Zid, BA, ACE, APG, and Jackie Russell, RN BSN CNOR in Columbus, OH, this national wellness program is designed to retrain the mind and body. Participants report improvement in quality of life, regained ability to successfully manage the disease, and maintenance of independence. This program targets daily functional challenges and symptom-specific fitness agendas. Exercise plans are adapted to all levels of the disease, valuable to newly diagnosed and progressed states alike. “Our goal is to make the benefits of Delay the Disease classes available to as many people with PD as possible. You may have Parkinson’s Disease, but it does not have you” ~David Zid, Jackie Russell, and Kendal at Granville. This program is a wonderful way for Kendal at Granville to make a difference in the greater community by levering our own programs and services to truly transform the experience of aging – not just for those that call Kendal home.
