Philanthropic
Support
Philanthropy within the Kendal system
expresses itself by providing financial assistance for residents, education and
staff development, and service in the wider world.
Resident assistance allows a
Kendal community to subsidize a current resident who, through no fault of their
own, has outlived the resources needed to cover the full fee for housing and
health care. Resident assistance can also allow a Kendal community to serve
persons who, because of a lifetime of religious, educational, or charitable
work, may not have accumulated the assets to cover the full costs of living in
a Kendal community.
Education programs for staff and for students interested in
careers in long term care strengthen our organization and enable us to continue
to provide the highest quality of services to residents while contributing
increased expertise and leadership to the growing field of aging services.
As a
concerned organization, we recognize that our responsibilities extend beyond
our own communities and services. We continue to explore ways to serve the
wider community. Through Kendal Outreach we provide public education, advocacy,
and training programs to the long term care field.
The people who live here and the people who work here pursue the same
goals—expressing in their living and their work a devotion to the truth
and a maximizing of life’s potential. The pioneer spirit of learning and
exploration is strong at Kendal. It has everything to do with why Kendal really
is different. Taking a positive, adventurous approach to the science and the
mysteries of aging is Kendal’s best gift.—a Kendal
