Kendal Outreach, LLC Receives Three-year Leading Nurses
Grant from Department of Health and Human Services

Kendal Outreach, LLC has received a grant in excess
of $800,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health
Resources and Services Administration to launch a nursing education,
practice and retention initiative called Leading Nurses. Kendal Outreach, LLC
and Widener University are collaborating on the grant program that will
provide leadership training to 60 Director of Nursing (DON) and Registered
Nurse (RN) leaders working in nursing homes in the Delaware Valley. The

Kendal Outreach, LLC Receives Grant from Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare

Kendal Outreach, LLC has received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare for $619,380 to extend the Pennsylvania Restraint Reduction Initiative (PARRI) through June 30, 2010. Initially a two-year pilot grant awarded to Kendal Outreach in 1996 and focused exclusively on helping Pennsylvania-based providers, the program has produced impressive results: through December 2008 physical restraint use in Pennsylvania’s long term care facilities has been reduced 90% from 28% to 2.9%. Beryl Goldman, Director for Kendal Outreach, Interviewed by USA Today for Article on Restraint Use in the US

On January 30th of this year, Beryl Goldman, Director for Kendal Outreach, was interviewed by a USA Today reporter for an article on restraint use in the USA. The article appeared on February 17th and was commendable in its calling attention to the issue of restraint use in our nation’s nursing homes, and for reporting the reduction of their use, particularly in Pennsylvania where Pennsylvania Restraint Reduction Initiative (PARRI) efforts have been dramatic. Kendal Outreach Receives Grant to Establish PANPHA's New Center for Innovation

PANPHA, a Pennsylvania association of nonprofit senior services, has established the new Center for Innovation with a goal of elevating the expertise and innovation of PANPHA members by cross-pollinating organizations with outstanding programs and actions to improve care. The new center is staffed by Kendal Outreach staff members Ruth Bish, RN, and Janet Davis, BA, ACC. READ MORE.
Kendal Outreach Launches Video "Missing Voices® "

Nearly 1.5 million older people are living in nursing home settings across the country whose lives and those of their families and friends can not help but be affected by the actions of the professionals charged with their care. “Missing Voices®” is a thirty-minute film, with teaching guide, offering a compelling and candid look, from the family members’ point of view, at their experiences with and perceptions of the way that care is provided. Produced by Kendal Outreach, LLC, the film’s purpose is to serve as a teaching tool primarily for use by health care organizations – including nursing homes, assisted living and home care programs. Kendal Outreach Is Now an Approved Provider of Continuing Nursing Education

Kendal Outreach, LLC is pleased to announce that we are now an Approved Provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. As such, all educational sessions (teleconferences, seminars, etc.) provided by Kendal Outreach will afford CEUs to all registered nurses who apply for the programs they attend.
