2MeetingGroundWinter2013WelcomehomesaidGlennBrichacekExecutiveDirectoroTheAdmiralattheLake.OnJuly18thenewAdmiralattheLakea31-storynonproftcontinuingcareretirementcommunitylocatedonChicagosNorthSideheldaneventtowelcomebackmorethan20ormerresidentsallwholivedinTheAdmiralbeoreitwasrebuiltandreopenedlastyear.DuringthehomecomingTheAdmiralattheLakealsoproclaimedandormalizeditsofcialafliationwiththeKendalSystem.WehaveauniquecommunityhereinthateventhoughwehaveabrandnewbuildingwealreadyhaveresidentsthathavebeenwithusoralongtimesaidBrichacek.Someotheresidentshavebeenwaitingmorethanfveyearstoreturnhomeandweresohappytofnallyopenthedoorsortheirreturn.Severalothereturningresidentsalsoaddressedthegathering.BettieCoeytoldthegroupohergreateel-ingorelieasshefnallywalkedintothenewAdmiralattheLakebuildingwhensheproclaimedAhhhhIamhome.JanetReedanewresidentmovingtoTheAdmiralattheLakesaidIamthrilledtobecomingtothisvibrantcommunity.Foundedin1858TheAdmiralattheLakeisChicagosfrstandlongest-servingnonproftcommunityoolderadults.Thenew200-residencelie-carecommunitylocatedonChicagoslakerontinaburgeoningneigh-borhoodjust10minutesnorthodowntownprovidesresident-ocusedlivingwithgardenandrootopter-racesrestaurant-stylediningandavarietyospaciouswell-appointedapartmenthomeswithunobstructedpanoramiclakerontandcityviews.Althoughthepartnershipbeganin2009thehomecom-ingalsomarkedthesigningoanofcialproclamationoafliationbetweenTheAdmiralattheLakeandKendal.AsapartothehomecomingeventstaandresidentsallsignedaproclamationlistingthevaluesandvisionortheAdmiralKendalcommunity.WhenwemetwithmembersoTheAdmiralattheLakecommunityromGlenntotheresidentswewereimpressedbythecommunitysmissionandsenseocom-mitmenttorebuildingaresidencethatistailoredtothecurrentandutureresidentswantsandneedssaidJohnDieyPresidentandChieExecutiveOfceroTheKen-dalCorporation.WecongratulateeveryoneinvolvedorcreatingabeautiulnewhomeorTheAdmiralattheLakeresidentsandwereproudtocallthisaKendalcommunity.KendalandTheAdmiralattheLaketogetherprom-isetoserveolderadultsinanewandbetterwaysaidBrichacek.WerepleasedtohaveoundKendalthroughourrebuildingprocess.TheyreapartnerwithwhomwesharethemissionandvisionoTogethertransormingtheexperienceoaging.MoreormerresidentsarereturningtoTheAdmiralattheLakethiswinterwiththeopeningothefrstneighbor-hoodsinTheAdmiralshealthcarecenterTheHarborsinJanuary.ThefrstHarborsresidentswillbereturningAdmiralresidentswhohavebeencaredorinnearbycommunitiesduringthereconstructionoTheAdmiral.TheHarborswillprovideassistedlivingmemorysupportandskillednursingcare.TheAdmiralattheLakeCelebratesResidentsHomecomingRebuiltChicagolakefrontcommunitywelcomesnewandreturningresidents.
